Any unagented writer* who identifies as 2SLGBTQIA+ can participate in the event. The specific label of Queer does not have to apply to you.

If you're a cishet writer with a queer story/characters, this pitch event is not for you.
*We also ask that industry professionals refrain from pitching.
No. Your story does not have to center queer themes or issues or 2SLGBTQIA+ characters for you to participate.
Your identity will also not be policed by anybody at any point.
If you want to disclose your identity or use the #own hashtag or any other diversity hashtag, you are free to do so, but it is not required.
If anyone requires this of you: run.
You may not use moodboards, character or cover art, or image attachments in any form as part of your pitch. We will have a day dedicated to your wonderful art, but image attachments take too much space and make for less pitches to be seen.
You can use more creative form pitches (recipe, NotesApp apology, bullet-point emojits, etc.) if you so choose.
However, DO NOT USE ALL-CAPS to make your pitches stand out. This is with the exception of hashtags and/or comps.
The first edition of the event took place on August 1st, 2023, from 8am—8pm EST on Twitter. Future dates are yet to be released. You can use online tools to convert to your timezone, such as this.

#QueerPit follows similar rules as any other pitch event: You may only pitch a certain amount of completed, query-ready manuscripts (3) a certain amount of times (4 per manuscript) in the given time slot on the day. You can only pitch once per hour (1-3 projects). That means pitches max out at 12 total, but may or may not spread out across the 12 hour runtime of the event. A pitch, in this case, is a tweet-length ad for your book using appropriate hashtags. You can find these hashtags here.

Industry professionals will peruse the hashtag and like (♡) projects they would like to see submitted to them. Writers are not allowed to like each other's pitches, but replies & retweets are welcome. Guidelines for submission will vary from agent to agent, so check out their Twitter profiles when you receive a ♡.
